yeah - what is the capacity of a convertible Mini? You can get some of those really small standup trailers well under 1500lbs - not exactly recommended but might be doable. But all that weight on the rear of the Mini sure would make directional stability squirrely...

When my daughters start giving me grandchildren, I’ll be having a blast.

If you’re gonna tow with a convertible, at least make sure it has a V8!

Is it wrong that when I see these little toy camper trailers, all I can think about is how far back the rear axle is, an d how much weight that will put on the tongue?

I made the same observation, but my thinking was how much more challenging the thing would be to back up and tow.

But if I had grandchildren, I could play with that rig for a long time with them and enjoy myself.

Actually, the longer the wheelbase, the easier it is to control backing up.

Definitely. Can confirm this.

Agreed
, but less maneuverable, IMHO. And wider turning radius.

This seems like a perfectly good place to link to Miss Mercedes Smart towing article:

I saw that. She’s an Oppo I’ve corresponded with quite a bit.

We’ve got a teardrop trailer. Can confirm it’s twitchy to backup. Very easy to tow.
